Seville is an incredible place to visit as a backpacker. It’s one of the most beautiful cities in Spain while being a lot more budget-friendly than the northern parts of the country. The climate in Seville also makes spring or autumn feel more like summer.

When I first visited Seville as a backpacker, I stayed twice as long as I had planned. Partly this was because there are just so many things to do in Seville, though the insanely good hostel I stayed at — La Banda Rooftop hostel — also made it an easy decision to stay longer.

I’ve since been back to Seville many times, letting me experience different neighborhoods and hostels in the Andalusian capital.

Why book now? It’s worth booking ahead to secure a place in one of the best hostels, especially since this is free! Hostelworld you can reserve a spot without cancellation fees for maximum flexibility.

With dozens of hostels in Seville to choose from, it can be hard to know where to stay. But book any of the following and you’ll be sure to have an amazing time in Seville.

La Banda Rooftop Hostel

Amazing views of the Seville Cathedral
Daily communal meals and rooftop entertainment
Best for social atmosphere (great for solo travelers)

I’ve stayed in hundreds of hostels around the world and La Banda Rooftop Hostel still ranks among the best. For a highly social backpacker atmosphere, this is my top recommendation.

This hostel has been earning Hostelworld’s “Hoscar” awards for many years and it’s easy to see why. The dorms are custom-designed with all the amenities you need, but it’s the rooftop area that really makes the difference. It’s easy to make new travel friends there, especially if you join the rooftop breakfast or daily family dinners. The vibe is social and there are often events on the roof though it’s not really a ‘party’ hostel, so you can get some good sleep every night.

The hostel is located just a stone’s throw from the Cathedral, making it easy to reach all the sights in Seville by foot.

Be sure to reserve your bed as La Banda is legendary and often books out fully even in low season. If you missed your chance, there are other hostels in Seville listed further below that also have a social atmosphere.

TOC Hostel & Suites

Located next to the Cathedral and the Alcazar, Seville’s top sight
Hotel-like amenities and quality
Best for quiet comfort on a budget

TOC is a small chain of hostels in Spain that offers hotel-like quality at hostel prices. This isn’t your best choice if you’re traveling solo and really need to socialize; it’s quiet, clean, and offers very great value, but they don’t organize activities and the common room isn’t very homely. However, the facilities are much better than your average hostel.

I recommend TOC Hostel & Suites if you’re looking for a fancy hostel with high-quality amenities. If you don’t need a social hostel because you already have plans of your own, but want an affordable but high-quality place to stay, then TOC will definitely tick all the boxes.

It’s perfect for remote workers. The downstairs lobby is adjacent to an on-site coffee shop with very good WiFi and many seats with sockets that you can easily work from.

La Flamenka Hostel

Phenomenal rooftop terrace
Highly central location (walking distance from bus station)
Budget-friendly

If La Banda is all booked out, I recommend La Flamenka as your next best option for a social hostel. Besides also having a rooftop area, it also has a lot of facilities that make it a great base in Seville.

From the rooftop terrace, you can see the cathedral and the old town, while being only minutes away from all the attractions in the city. A rustically furnished kitchen and other common areas will give you a sneak peek into traditional Spanish homes. Prepare coffee or your meals here and hang out with like-minded travelers.

Searching for some flamenco shows? You will be happy to hear that this hostel is situated not only in the historic districts but also near the magical Barrio de Triana, one of Sevilla’s most famous and flamenco-flavored neighborhoods.

There are both private and shared rooms available here. Bathrooms are gender-separated, located outside of the rooms, and are nice and big. You’ll discover a living room, TV, and washing machine, among other amenities.

Oasis Backpacker’s Hostel Sevilla & Coworking

Includes free co-working area
Located close to the ‘Mushroom’ square, a great local area
Best for digital nomads

For those of you who are backpackers or digital nomads, this is a place to be. Share a drink or a story with fellow adventurers while planning your city exploration together, while also having the option to easily work from the included office.

Barrio de Santa Cruz, the Torre del Oro, Seville Cathedral, the Real Alcazar, and Plaza de Toros are all within walking distance of the hostel. An onsite bar, daily BBQs and dinners, and a rooftop patio with a small pool are all available at this clean and air-conditioned hostel.

Enjoy a glass of wine on the roof terrace bar, relax in the pool under the Andalusian sun, immerse yourself in a good book in a peaceful environment, or do some people-watching in the plaza beside the Metropolis Parasol, the world’s biggest wooden structure.

Triana Hostel

In Seville’s most traditional area, Triana
Classic backpacker hostel (one of Seville’s first)
Best for traveller atmosphere and local area

The cool thing about this hostel is that it’s located in the soulful and traditional area of Triana, which for a long time was the home of numerous flamenco singers and bullfighters. Although Triana is a more original area to stay, it’s still just a 10-minute walk from the touristy center.

The hostel is located in a building that was once a “corrale”, a communal building with a central open courtyard where gypsies in particular once used to live in the 15th and 16th century. It seems fitting that a place once shared by many transient families is now a place shared by many travellers.

As one of the oldest hostels in Seville, Triana Hostel is maybe a bit simpler than others, but it makes up for this with its highly welcoming atmosphere.

I was reminded of many ‘old school’ backpacker hostels that I’ve stayed in Asia and South America, which was a fun change from the more boutique hostels you see these days. If you’re looking for a real traveller hostel, this is it.

Oasis Backpackers’ Palace Sevilla

Friendly vibe
Rooftop terrace
Best for ‘party hostel’ atmosphere

This is a busy hostel known for its poolside party atmosphere. The hostel is located between many of Seville’s biggest attractions, the historic district, and all the entertainment and nightlife. Enjoy a beautiful rooftop terrace where you can soak in a pool, or sign up for free walking tours. It’s always easy to make friends during sangria happy hour.

Pub crawls, culinary classes, and tapas tastings are among the most popular activities at this hostel. Oasis Backpackers has a wide range of private rooms, flats, and dormitories, all with private bathrooms. Rooms are large, with high ceilings and windows. Each bed has a huge locker but bring your own padlock with you.

Staying here allows you to visit attractions within a walking distance, including the Cathedral, the Alameda, the Alcazar palace, the Alfalfa, and the Calle Feria market. The bus station is a few minutes away, and you can catch the bus to the airport or the beach here.

Hostel Trotamundos

Beautiful courtyard
Located in the city center
Bext for luxury on a budget

A luxury mixed with a traditional interior is what this hostel is recognized for. It is located in the heart of Sevilla, directly across from Santa Maria Magdalena Church. The Giralda Tower and the church are a 10-minute walk from here. The Fine Arts Museum is only a short walk away, as well as the Real Maestranza Bull Ring.

A central courtyard with marble columns and a fountain is included in the guest house. A shared living area with a flat-screen TV, coffee machine, armchairs, and board games is available.

Hostel Trotamundos features shared rooms with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, as well as a 24-hour reception and a common kitchen with a microwave, ceramic cooktop, and refrigerator. A common bathroom with a shower is available to all guests.

Hostal Sol 4

Recently renovated
Historical building
With a wonderful terrace

During the recent renovation, they have added some modern features and comfy furniture to the hostel, but the beautiful centuries-old building is still preserved in its entire beauty. The hostel has a terrace where you can spend your time chilling, working, or talking to other travelers.

The hostel is located in a quiet neighborhood near old convents and cathedrals, theaters, and charming commercial districts. It is easy to stroll to many sections of the city and all the important tourist attractions. Guests can use the tour desk and baggage storage available at the hotel.

Rooms include contemporary furniture and private bathrooms. Free WiFi in all rooms and common spaces, air conditioning and heating, and daily room cleaning are just a few of the amenities you will love here.
